Ascend ABA Support

Steps to Begin Therapy

STEPS TO BEGIN THERAPY

Getting Started is Simple

At Ascend ABA Support, we believe the transition into ABA therapy should be as natural and stress-free as the therapy itself. To help your child begin their journey, we have outlined the professional and clinical steps required to secure support and begin guiding your child to new heights.

Phase 1: Foundation & Consultation

Step 1:

Secure a Formal Diagnosis

To access ABA services through insurance, a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from a licensed professional (such as a Pediatric Neurologist, Developmental Pediatrician, or Psychologist) is required.

Step 2:

Initial Consultation

Reach out to our team for a discovery call. We’ll discuss your child’s unique strengths, your family’s goals, and how the Ascend philosophy aligns with your vision for your child’s development.

Step 3:

Insurance Verification

Our intake specialists will work with you to verify your ABA benefits, helping you understand your coverage, co-pays, and any authorizations needed to move forward.

Phase 2: Assessment & Collaborative Planning

Step 4:

The Clinical Assessment

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will conduct a compassionate, play-based assessment. This isn’t a “test”—it’s a way for us to observe your child in their natural element and learn how they communicate and interact with their world.

Step 5:

Parent Insight Interview

Because you are the expert on your child, we sit down with you to capture the details that data can’t show. Your input ensures our goals are meaningful to your family’s daily life.

Step 6:

The Custom Path Construction

Your BCBA develops a personalized Treatment Plan. This roadmap outlines the specific “new heights” we are aiming for and is submitted to your insurance provider for final approval.

Phase 3: Beginning the Ascent

Step 7:

Team Matching & Pairing

We carefully match your child with a Behavior Therapist. The first few sessions are dedicated to “pairing”—building a bond of trust and joy so that your child feels safe and excited to learn.

Step 8:

Ongoing Collaborative Coaching

Once sessions begin, the journey continues with regular check-ins. We provide the tools and support so that you feel empowered to lead your child’s development long after our sessions end.
